Urbanathlon

As Urbanathlon's main official partner, Sport4life has a major input and influence in Urbanathlon.  Sport4life is a not-for-profit company based in Eccles, Manchester, here in the UK and promotes health, well being and fitness within schools and the community. 

Manchester Climbing Centre is one of the largest climbing walls in Europe. Set in the unique surroundings of St Benedict's Church, Gorton, Manchester, the 75+ lines are tailored for you. Whether complete beginner or experienced rock legend, they run sessions that should enable you to climb in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere.

Climbing is a great way of keeping fit in an exciting, social environment and with 20m lead walls, extensive bouldering and top rope lines you should soon work up an appetite. Situated on the impressive mezzanine is the Rocks Café and Cotswold shop, so you can relax and have a coffee and watch the others do the hard work.

StreetGames is another of Urbanathlon's official partners and like Sport4life plays a large part in the development of Urbanathlon. StreetGames is a new national charity, established in 2006 to promote sport for young people living in the most disadvantaged communities. They have tried and tested ways of engaging young people who are currently outside sport.

East Manchester  was the centre of the manufacturing industry on which the whole of the City of Manchester's wealth was based. Since the early 1970’s East Manchester has experienced extensive social, economic and physical decline as those industries have contracted and in many cases disappeared.  New East Manchester aims to lead the physical regeneration of the area, co-ordinate and integrate social/community and economic initiatives and market and promote the area to new businesses and residents ensuring a sustainable future.

One of the largest official partners, Manchester City Council's influence and expertise is legendary when it comes to supporting events such as Urbanathlon.  Assistance from such a partner is a big boost and aids the promotion of the event.

Medlock Valley is yet another major Sponsor and is also the location for The Urbanathlon first event, located in the City of Manchester Medlock Valley runs for several miles towards and entering into Tameside.  Medlock Valley is the location of Clayton Vale, an area of outstanding beauty which forms a small part of the East Manchester Urbanathlon course.

Groundwork Uk is another of Urbanathlon's official partners.  Groundwork supports communities in need, working with partners to help improve the quality of people’s lives, their prospects and potential and the places where they live, work and play.

Their vision is of a society of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.

UberFit Events was born in the Uber-City of Manchester, UK and is committed to creating exciting and totally fresh multi sports events such as Urbanathlon to inspire people to lace up trainers and race!

They are a small but perfectly formed collective of sport-obsessed folk that offer an expanding range of exciting, innovative multi sports events aimed at all abilities from novice beginners to elite athletes.

Add to that the fact that they're 100% passionate about the positive effect that sport and fitness activities can have on our world, and want to indulge peoples love of endorphin fuelled activity.
